I'm now studio manager for Dowson Creative, and will be based at my new office in Nottingham from August onwards. You'll still get the same truly exceptional design services, though.
This page will remain active for the foreseeable future, but will no longer be updated so if you'd like to contact me, please use my new details.
I look forward to working with you.

The publishers of Made in Sheffield magazine approached me to help them completely overhaul the publication, as well as introducing a new workflow and ad management system.
Produced bilingually (English/Welsh), this brochure outlines all the courses Empower SVS currently offer, including a week-to-view diary with the courses marked in.
Moving away from the image of a Stateley Home, the garden centre's branding was overhauled to give up a much fresher, softer image in tune with their outlook.
The Sheena Amos Youth Trust is a sexual health charity for young people up to the age of 25 in Sheffield. Lacking any sort of existing brand identity, they approached me to help.
Valerie wanted something that would be both memorable for the potential clients she meets every day, and also an insight into the way she works - something "interactive!"
Produced under a very short turnaround, Away Media's logo utilises the core shape of the flash plugin Away3D's brand which helps tie the two ventures together.
Katy's letterheads were kept as clean and simple as possible to allow the logo breathing room, maintaining a fresh, crisp style throughout, in contrast to her business cards.
Springy Web wanted business cards which weren't "run-of-the-mill" for web developers. Letterpress, with its deep indentation and almost analogue appeal, seemed the perfect option!
These cards were designed to encourage footfall into Mookau's shop in Sheffield, as recent parking schemes in the surrounding area had caused a drop in passing trade.
The stylised roots on the logo are a personal favourite of mine, and the strong (yet natural) palette lends itself well to a company focused on health and nutrition.
Specialising in timber buildings, structures and furniture with a low environmental impact, NBS approached me through the Sheffield Enterprise Agency for branding.
As a social photographer, Katy needed a logo that was striking and unique enough to set her apart, whilst avoiding the usual photographer logo clichés of film reels and frames.
Each of Six AD's cards has a unique colour scheme, hand picked by their owner but always complementary - to highlight how the individuals work strongly as a team.

No two projects are exactly the same, so it's hard to list everything. If something isn't listed, just ask if I can do it. The answer is usually yes!

It's always been this part of the industry which has captured both my imagination and my heart and I like to think I bring a cutting edge spin to the most traditional of media.
Although I could easily be described as a print evangelist, I do have a wealth of experience with both web design and social media as - to be honest - I'm a bit of a geek!
My design knowledge was built up in tandem with my technical expertise and the two sit quite comfortably together.

Based in Nottingham and Sheffield, I've been a freelance designer for the past six years, working for sole traders and organisations from every corner of the public, private and third sectors.
Before freelancing, I worked for both a newspaper and a printer. Both of these high-pressure, deadline-driven environments helped me to gain the skills and determination to get the job done and develop the high standards to which I hold myself. It also explains my love for caffeine!
I'm a perfectionist, and I'm obsessed by details, no matter how small. It's important to me that I understand how something works, from machinery to individual businesses, as it's this in-depth knowledge which can really make a difference to any design I create.

"Like" my work and receive updates and other information. It's slightly more comfortable than when you had to become my "fan"... although that was better for my ego!
Want your Chris-Wisdom in bite-size chunks? Then look no further! Although it can get a bit random, it's one of the best places to say hello and to find out more about what I do.

I have worked with Chris on several occasions and he has many attributes which stand out, including fantastic attention to detail, versatility, flexibility, good technical knowledge and above all an excellent creative talent. He is fast and hard-working and I would highly recommend him.

If you have a project which could benefit from my knowledge and expertise then get in touch! I tend to work normal office hours (sometimes earlier, sometimes later) and I'm never far from my phone.
Alternatively (if you’re pushed for time) you can use the handy callback form to the right and I'll get in touch at a time that's convenient for you.
